The Low Down on Lash Lifts
Written by Kate Charles
WHAT IS A LASH LIFT?
You’ve probably heard the term lash lift and thought, okay…but what actually is that?
In the simplest terms, a lash lift is like a perm for your natural lashes. It’s a semi-permanent service that curls and lifts your lashes from the root, creating a more open, fanned-out look. The result? Lashes that appear longer, darker, and more defined—without extensions.
We always pair our lash lifts with a lash tint for added dimension (especially for our lighter-haired hotties 👀). Tinting enhances the lift and gives that mascara-but-make-it-effortless vibe.
HOW A LASH LIFT WORKS
Our lash lift process uses a multi-step system designed to be effective and gentle on your lashes:
Step 1: Lifting Solution
This step softens the lash hair by breaking down the internal bonds so we can reshape them into a lifted curl. Our solution is TGA-free, formulated to maintain bond integrity, reduce the risk of over-processing, and protect the health of the lash with a built-in damage defense system.Step 2: Setting Solution
Once the lashes are lifted, this step neutralizes the hair and locks in the new shape so your curl actually lasts.Step 3: Nourish & Protect
You’ll leave your appointment with your lashes coated in a conditioning treatment packed with amino acids and plant extracts to keep them protected until you start your home aftercare routine.
You may notice a few shorter lashes that didn’t lift—and that’s totally normal. Lash hair grows in three stages:
Anagen (babies 👶)
Catagen (adults)
Telogen (one foot in the grave)
Those tiny anagen lashes are simply too short to wrap around the rods and shields, so they’ll catch up at your next lift.
HOW SAFE IS A LASH LIFT?
This is one of the most common questions we get—and rightfully so.
When performed by a trained professional using professional-grade products and followed with proper aftercare, lash lifts are considered very safe and generally do not damage healthy lashes. That’s why I often recommend them as a great alternative to lash extensions: lower risk, less maintenance, and way less time (and money) long-term.
A LASH LIFT MAY NOT BE THE BEST FIT IF YOU:
Are currently experiencing eye infections or irritation (pink eye, styes, etc.)
Have had recent surgery around the eye area
Have ultra-sensitive eyes
Deal with excessively dry or watery eyes
Have thyroid conditions (hypo or hyper) that affect lash growth
Have very weak or brittle lashes
If you’re unsure, I’m always happy to chat and help you decide if this service is right for you.
HOW TO PREP FOR YOUR LASH LIFT
Good news: prep is minimal.
Please arrive with a completely clean, makeup-free eye area. For best results:
Avoid waterproof mascara and oil-based products (cleansers, eye creams, makeup removers) for 24–48 hours before your appointment
Remove contact lenses before your service
(We provide lens cases and solution in the restroom—just bring your glasses for after!)
That’s it. Easy.
LASH LIFT AFTERCARE: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Once your lashes are lifted and tinted, hydration and nourishment are key. We’ve chemically reshaped the hair, so supporting it afterward helps maximize results and longevity.
We retail Elleeplex Advanced Aftercare Formula because it’s specifically designed to work with the lash lift system we use in-studio. It’s enriched with:
Keratin
Biotin
Hydrolyzed collagen
These ingredients help restore protein bonds, boost moisture, and support healthier lash growth over time. Simply put: better aftercare = better lashes.
FOR THE FIRST 24 HOURS, AVOID:
Hot water or steam on the lashes
Makeup, cleansers, serums, or removers in the eye area
Rubbing or touching your lashes (leave the little guys alone)
Sleeping on your side or stomach if possible—back sleeping helps prevent kinks
Workouts or anything that causes heavy sweating
Use the spoolie provided to gently brush and separate your lashes daily.
SO… ARE LASH LIFTS WORTH IT?
If you love the idea of waking up with lifted, darker, “did you do something different?” lashes—but hate daily mascara, curlers, or extension upkeep—a lash lift + tint is absolutely worth it.
It’s low effort, high reward, and lets your natural lashes do the heavy lifting (literally). With proper aftercare, your results last weeks and grow out gracefully—no fills, no glue, no stress.
Basically: effortless hot girl lashes with minimal commitment.
When you’re ready, book your lift and let us handle the rest.
